Chickie Boy's Birthday Celebration at Max's Restaurant 2017

We had a blast last August 5, 2017! It's Chickie Boy's Birthday Party! It's our first time to attend a birthday party on Max's Restaurant and all I can say is... more parties to attend at Max's for us!

The party was at Max's Restaurant Scout Tuazon Quezon City. I was amazed with the venue. It's a whole package!

The party itself + a stage (yes a stage where you or anyone can perform or act) + food and snacks + games  + giveaways = FUN 100%

My 4 year old kid really enjoyed the party. It's her first time to see Chickie Boy. After I took this photo, she quickly hug Chickie Boy. I wasn't prepared for it. I wasn't able to take a picture of that moment.

There's a video below too... See Chickie Boy dance :)

When we arrive, we got a Party Passport that entitles the kid to all the fun stuff! Just look at how big the venue is!

There's a juggler to entertain both adults and kids.

Ivy's wearing the crown we made. She played the Hit The Blocks and Dart A Balloon. She had fun! Although she had trouble on Shoot That Ball but still she made it!

Look at what she got :)

She also got a ball. She and the other kids got addicted on this area :)

There's a Princess! Every girl wants to be a princess. Ivy exclaimed "Wow" when she saw the beautiful Princess with the castle backdrop. Really, it's our first time to attend a party where you can take a picture with a princess. She is so happy. Of course, the mommy too.

What's a party without dessert?

Thanks for more food... Jamba Juice...

Krispy Kreme...

Yellow Cab Pizza...

And this!!! This is L-O-V-E...

Happy Ivy. Happy me!

We're also able to print our pictures by Phone2Prints. Amazing photo border and designs :) I love the quality of the print too. It's the what you see on your phone, that's what you get on the printed photo.

Food!!! There's a very happy kid...

Chickie Boy on stage! He danced with his gang. Watch it at the video below :)

Chickie Boy, the Princess, the Car Racer, the Juggler and the kids on the stage for a photo!

Thanks Chickie Boy and Max's Restaurant for the mini chair! My kid love it so much!

Here's the video I made about the party...

If you're child is having a party soon, try Max's Restaurant Kiddie Party Package. They have these cool theme for your kid.

Just look at the cakes!!!

I am sure your kid had already pick a theme!!!

Birthday Gifts Ideas for Grandfather

What do you think of birthday gifts grandpa will love? Does your grandfather love sweets, chocolates... can he eat those? If yes, why not buy some chocolates and a birthday teddy bear. It would be very memorable for your grandpa. He'll sure to keep the teddy bear. It would always remind him of you seeing the teddy bear.

Or maybe your grandpa loves to play golf with his pals. You can buy him a new pair of gloves.

Of course, make the day special.  Buy a cake so everyone can enjoy grandpa's birthday.

Party Planning Checklist

Yups, your having a party, and you want it to organize it by yourself. It's not actually hard to plan a party. But what to do?

Like on my wedding, I did a checklist (which only I can understand). It's the very first event that I had organized. At first, I got lose of what to do first. But it's not really that hard.

The next time I would organize a party... maybe it would be regarding about a party for my son. I want to get organized.

If you're throwing a party at your house, make a party planning checklist. Party can be a reunion party, or your having a workshop and you'll need to prepare meals to those who enrolled in, or maybe a baby shower party.

I had a copy of the checklist and I think it's really cool for all who would prepare and cook their own food. The checklist has blank spaces where in you can fill up the food you like to serve, the ingredients you needed to prepare the food, and the day when you need to start preparing for the food. The checklist allows you to list appetizer, snack, beverage, side dish, entrée and dessert... 3 of each, with an option for up to 3 days.

The checklist would also help you organize what items you need to prepare and where, like tables and chairs.

If you want a copy of the check list, simple go and check out the website http://www.theme-party-queen.com/party-planning-checklist.html.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

When should you announce a new baby is coming?

It's so common to mothers to have birth announcements to her friends. Usually, there would be a baby shower party. So when exactly should a new baby who is still in her mother's tummy be introduce?

There's no exact when should a party be thrown. But it's usually 4 to 2 months before the baby is scheduled to came out. Too early parties won't be that fun because the mother's tummy isn't that yet so obvious. And on baby shower parties, friends usually buy gifts according to the baby's gender.

The proud parents-to-be would also like to send invitation card with a theme that matches with the gender of their baby. So it's wise to get an OB consultation and get the gender of the baby. The gender can be determine starting on the 5th month of pregnancy. Although there are those who goes to the OB to check the baby's gender on the 4th month of pregnancy.

Are Thank You Notes Important?

On my wedding day, I didn't send thank you notes to those who had attended my wedding. On my son's 1st birthday party, I didn't send thank you notes either. After some years, I was invited in a friend's wedding party. I did attend the party. And after 2 weeks, I got a thank you note from the mail man. It's a customized note saying how happy they (the newly wed couple) are, that I had attended their wedding celebration.

I felt happy that the couple remembered me. Let's face it. Thank you notes are not really necessary. It adds up to the task of getting the guest's address. But your friends would really be happy that you actually did an effort of sending a thank you note to them.

If you intend to send thank you notes, make sure you would have a guest book(s) to make your guest sign in their name, contact number and address. It would be better if you would have more than 2 guest books (depending on how many families you had invited). The more guest books, the less time it would take for all your guests to sign in, and the more you are sure that all guests were able to sign in. You would need some people to help you of course. The best people that can help you with assisting the guests on signing in the guest book are those secondary sponsors (the maid of honor, bridesmaid, candle sponsor, veil sponsor, cord sponsor)... if you're having your wedding party.  But for birthdays, your close friends, family members or relatives can help you with the guest book sign in.

The perfect time to start making your guests sign in is when all or almost all your guests has arrived.  It would be before the start of the event.  There would be late comers for sure.  You can make them sign in on your party reception area (if you have any).

Making your guest sign in when they arrive at the party is not a really good idea.  Signing in would need them to write their name, contact number and address.  In that case, your guests would need to line up and wait for their turn to sign in, so they can enter the party area.  It would just clutter the reception area.  In the end, your guests would choose not to sign in.

When your guests writes their info, there would be some of them who would only put their contact number, or some would only put their address.  To the guests who didn't provide their address, and you yourself didn't know their address, you can just send them a thank you message to their mobile number.

Sending Thank You Notes would really make your guests happy, and would make them think that you really had prepared the party from top to bottom.

Riding a horse without a saddle...

My husband went to China. He called me before the parade and said that "they" would be riding horses on the traditional parade. And he would try to get off the scene by riding a car instead. Some would walk. I asked him why wouldn't he ride a horse, because I think it would be fun to ride a horse on a parade. "Tut tut tut..." I heard on my mobile phone. I guess he had used up all his mobile credits.

When he came back, midnight, he opened the TV and DVD player, inserted a CD and made me watch the parade and the party. Then I saw his relatives from the Philippines riding horses. It looks like fun! But he said that those who rode the horses were sending him mobile text message saying that it kinda hurt and feels uneasy because there's no saddle on the horses. And looking at the video, there's not much horse tack/equipment on the horse. The riders were even holding a red flag during the parade. That all makes my husband want to either walk or drive a car and be on the tail of the parade.

On such events, when there are lots on contributed money involved, I hope the organizers had at least prepared the horses with a saddle, or an english horse tack which would make the guests from other countries feel comfortable while riding on the horses. Because they are the guests on the parade.

Create your own Karaoke Room

Here are the simple things you need to own to have your very own karaoke room at your home:
  • A room enough to put an entertainment system, a center table, a sofa and some stools. A small room can just do it.
  • The essentials would be the entertainment system (or a plain TV will do) and the karaoke system with a mic or two for a duet.
  • A sofa and some stools, and a center table to put your snacks while singing.
  • The room doesn't need to have windows because it would be cool to have an air conditioned room.
  • CD racks or cabinets... if you would be using CDs.
  • You can also add a disco light to spice your room.

Where to look for baptism invitation printing service?

When your baby hits half year old, you are sure to cram to look for suppliers that can provide you all the things and supplies that you would need on your Christening party for your baby. For your party supplies, you would need invitation cards, balloons, food caterer, restaurant or party area and maybe a magician or host to entertain the guest especially the children.

But where to look for suppliers? You can seek help from party coordinators. But you would save more money if you look for your own suppliers. Baptism invitations, for example, can be just your own design and just look for a printer capable of printing on card boards. Or maybe you can just print it just like a photo. Or you can check the Yellow Page for services of designing and printing the invitations.  Or you can go to a search engine website and search for "invitation cards _____". The "_____" is where you put your country, or location. Invitation cards are considered documents on couriers so you won't end up paying a lot of money if ever the courier you picked is far from your place.

My Party Invitations, What happened?

I did have invitations for my baby Ivan's christening and 1st birthday celebration. The problem is, it's in Chinese! The invitation does look like that of a typical Chinese wedding invitation. Although the invitation does look classy and nice with its hard bound cover and matching red envelope, the people that I would be inviting might get lost of "Who's invitation card is it again?" The invitation card design and choice of written language is in favor of my husband and his parents.

Luckily, I didn't need to have extra invitations in English printed for my friends and to others that I would be inviting. My friends are not the no-invitation-and-I-won't-attend type of people.

But if ever that I would be printing a more modern party invitations for my baby's party, it would be as nice and simple as this one.

Tumblers as Giveaways For Ivan's Party

We had decided to have a kiddie party for Ivan's 1st birthday. We hired a host/magician to entertain us all. And the party won't be complete without giveaways.

After checking with the balloon supplier/party organizer, I decided to look for giveaways suppliers on my own. Lucky me, I found one...

tumbler giveaway supplier tumbler giveaway supplier

I love the design and the print. I told my tumbler giveaway supplier to make me two designs for my tumblers: "Barney" and "Mickey and Friends" themes. The print is so smooth too. And the way the printed paper is inserted on the tumblers, it's so neat!

My giveaway tumbler supplier for Ivan's party is PrintMix. I got his tumblers less than PHP 20.00 compare to party organizers and other suppliers. They not only have tumblers as giveaways, they also have keychain, mousepad, button pins and many more.

If you are throwing a party for your baby or your kid, check PrintMix's services on their website at http://printmix.multiply.com/. You would get nice giveaways for less.

Ivan's Christening and 1st Birthday Party Plan

Before 3 weeks from the coming Christening and 1st birthday party for our Baby Ivan, finally, my husband have decided to have a host/magician/ventriloquist to make the party more lively.

We had been ignoring the idea of hiring one because the party is to be held at dinner time. And we thought that parents might not bring along their kids on our (should I say Ivan's?) party. My husband announces that there would be a magician on the party while he distributes the invitation cards. Fortunately, they have announced that they would bring their kids.

What we'll have:
  • host/magician/ventriloquis
  • balloons
  • cake and mini cake giveaways
  • game prizes

What we won't have that is not really important, that saves us much money
  • food cart
  • tattoo corner, personalized items, face painting...

What I think we need or maybe I'll just do it myself, with some help from my sister or anyone willing:
  • photography

My mother-in-law has been telling us that the decision is on us (I and my husband). She said it's still a lot of money. But I know deep inside, she wants a "party". She saw it on my sister's son christening party. I think it's her first time to see such. She's really happy.

And about the invitation, I'm would only be needing one piece for my side, and the rest would be just an invitation from mouth. But it seems like there are some extras that I can use to distribute to my family and friends. My only problem is, the whole invitation is in Chinese!!! No English translation. The invitation card was printed in China, for some reasons. The invitation is so cheap yet so elegant.

My friends can understand Chinese invitation cards. The problem is, my friends doesn't know my Chinese name! Maybe I'll just tell them that the pure Chinese words invitation card they would receive, would be coming from me =p

Fun in the Pool

I never knew there's such kind of pool floats lounges! It's not actually a lounge, but you can call it one. On the pool, if you have something to lay on, and maybe a table-like where you can put in your glass or sodas, it would be great. Check out the image below.

Lovely isn't? You can sit on there the whole afternoon. Just make sure the sun is not too hot to burn you. The set-up would also be great for pool parties.

I would love to make my baby "swim" in a pool. My baby loves water. And I'm he would love to see a pool full of water for him to play. And an inflatable baby seat for my baby would be perfect. Check the image below.

I'm sure my baby and I would have a lot of fun in the pool.

BlueWater Day Spa - First Ever Spa Movie Theatre in the World

Now, let's talk about spa. I had never been in a spa, ever! I had never been in a facial even once!!! Would you believe? You should. Because I am not really into spa and massage.

But BlueWater Day Spa located in Ortigas, Philippines thrills me with their very "yummy" spa treats. They are marking the first ever spa movie theatre in the world. Again, "in the world". I would like to thank Francis Simisim for inviting me to check on his spa with his blog post on http://techfilipino.com/2009/01/first-spa-movie-theatre-in-the-world/.

Here's a look at their spa + movie theatre/videoke/video game/whatever you can do with the screen... presentation...

The first ever Spa Theatre

The room can accommodate up to 28 people at once. If you want to have a unique celebration, this would be a great a place to treat your family or your friends. This would be a great bonding place that I am sure no one would forget the experience.

Speaking about bonding place, my friends and I, haven't gone out for such a long time. I'm talking about years here. We do have our own Christmas party celebration every year before. But now, all of us have work that are so stressful. Some of us also have our own family and children to take care of. We don't have time for meet-ups. It should be once every year. But some of us are tired of the coffee-movie-dinner thing that we always do. Exchange gifts? That happens if we are complete. We can't get out of town because we're too busy. Maybe this would be a great place to celebrate our Christmas party bonding. After all, most of us hasn't gone to a spa. We'll have our exchange gift and talk about everything, girl talk, right there on the spa theatre. Of course, we'll rent the place. I'm excited! I know, this would be a unique experience for all of us.

Calling all my friends... paging!!!

And on my husband's birthday, I would love to bring him to that spa. We'll have a unique spa experience for just the two of us. No other family members, parents, friends or relatives, just the two of us.

Anyway, business meetings would be great in here too. You got the screen there for presentations. You got to relax too. You know, sometimes business meetings do have this "relaxing time". Why not do it in just one place. I hope our business meetings would be held on the movie theatre too. I would suggest this idea to my boss.

Okay, now ideas coming on my mind. Hubby got his suppliers from China that sometimes visits the Philippines for, well... business. It's like the supplier-client meet-up. Their family usually come along with the meet-ups. My husband is the middle-man. They (or we) would be all about 8 to 20. This is the usual Chinese business affair, the meet-and-greet, talk-relax-and-enjoy thing. My husband is getting out of idea on where to bring those suppliers. So, are you thinking what I'm thinking?

But for couples (take note Valentine's Day is coming), there is these Couple's Rooms for your privacy and bonding moment.

There are also the Sauna and the Common Rooms

They also got this luxurious-looking and accommodating reception area. Do you love water fountains? They got two to welcome you.

And their hallway... I can feel it. When I will pass that hallway, and then enters one of the rooms there, I can feel the privacy... There's something about the hallway...

I would love to experience my first ever spa on the first ever spa movie theatre. I'm a virgin when it comes to spa. And I'm giving BlueWater Day Spa the permission to make me experience it.

For more information on this remarkable spa, visit http://bluewaterdayspa.com/.

Ever need boxes?

I think I would be needing shipping boxes soon. Maybe for my sideline on selling things, and for the customized souvenirs that I would make for my baby Ivan's first birthday party.

And I think we sometimes do give wine as a gift. I never knew that there is such as wine box.

It would be cool if I can check on the different kind of boxes available on the time that I needed one.

Perfect Giveaways

I'm thinking of nice giveaways for Ivan's 1st birthday. I'm not yet sure if I'll have one. Maybe I'll have some for the godparents, family and my friends. But I'm thinking of a giveaway that one will use over and over and over. I don't like those display objects. Many have been receiving those kinds. I want something unique.

This cool usb thumb drive gives me an idea as a great giveaway for my Ivan's first birthday celebration. The custom laser engraving really puts a bulb on my head. Since the engraving is free, and you would only pay for the thumb drive and the low shipping fee, I guess I would really think about this one.

Personalized Flash Drives

I think this idea is great for corporate giveaways too. Companies have been giving away ballpens, stationary or mugs. When you give your best clients thumb drives as gift, I'm sure they would be surprised. And as marketing tool, you can give your clients software brochures saved on those thumb drives.

I have never thought of Personalized Flash Drives as giveaways before.

On Wedding Flowers

On every wedding occasions, you will never a flower. You will see flowers for the table centerpiece, for the restaurant decoration and of course, you will see the bride and all of the ladies and girls on the entourage holding beautifully decorated bouquets of flowers.

That was my problem on my wedding day. I don't know where to go and order flowers. First reason, I have a tight schedule on planning the wedding. Second, it's the cost. I want quality and fresh flowers in an affordable price.

Actually, flowers for weddings are ordered in bulk. And bulk flowers should be at a lesser price. Then another issue of ordering so many flowers is the quality. Not all flowers delivered are fresh. Sure you'll see the flowers decorated beautifully. But there would be some flowers that you'll see with falling and darkened petals.

On my wedding, we had ordered flowers from someone who is connected with our couturier. That lessens our problem. But we didn't have the chance to check our for better supplier.

My picture while pregnant...

I have some friends asking how do I look like. So here it is... the picture was taken last April 2008. It's my husband's friend's daughter's 18th birthday celebration. On this picture, I am about 7 1/2 month pregnant.

I am the one on the right-most side of the picture. I'm the one on white and on eyeglasses.

[click to enlarge picture and see how fat I am]

I'm fat but that's okay. I just hope I can get back to how I look like before after giving birth.

Beware of Thieves on Parties/Receptions

It was March 23,2008 when my husband and I attended a wedding reception at Century Park Hotel.

The souvenir for the guests is a photo mug with the guest's picture on it. So the photo mug supplier need to shoot a still picture of the guests, print the image on their special paper, let it dry, cut it, dip it on a pan with water, carefully stick the paper to the mug, let the image dry on the mug and then put the mug to a transparent plastic container.

They have a lot to do, and there are so many guests. Well there are guests who comes in groups so it would be a group on one mug. Example would be a family group photo. But there are so many photo mug stubs so there are those families that have 10 mugs.

The supplier are a group of more than five people. When the mugs are ready for distribution, they would put the mugs in another table. The bridesmaid and some other girls are helping too.

But there is this not too old woman in blue with eyeglasses who is helping them. The supplier thought the woman is with the reception. But the bridesmaid, the girls and a relative of the newly wed thought the woman is one of the people of the supplier.

That woman just help them with the task and finally had done her deed. She had put a shoulder bag of one of the people of the supplier, and put it on another bigger bag. The relative of the newly wed had seen her but just ignore it.

And finally, when they discovered that the bag is missing, there's nothing more to do. Maybe the old thief had get her way out while the guests are busy going out of the place.

I guess everyone should be strict on who are the only authorized persons to help. And people should be cautious on where to put their personal belongings.

Manila Hotel... What Happened?

Just this noon, 12:00 pm to about 4:00 pm, my husband and I are invited by a friend on their association celebration reception.

The association's preparation is perfect. There's the dragon/lion dance. There are teens have danced classic and hip-hop style. There are the oldies singing chinese songs but on right tone. There's the raffle.

But on Manila Hotel, what happened to you guys? The reception is held on Manila Hotel's Fiesta Pavilion, the room that can accomodate the most in the hotel. I'm not sure if there are lack of waiters to serve the so many guest.

The soup and the mango sago dessert are both "delivered" to all tables on large bowls. Then the waiters, after literally putting the bowl down the table, should serve the guest filling every small bowl with the soup/mango sago desert. But after the waiter literally put down the bowl, they just went away! I don't know what happened! It's always been "their" job to fill in all the guests' bowl.

It happened to our table, and also to the other tables! And Manila Hotel is considered as a Five-Star hotel. I have never experienced it in Century Park Hotel even with the same number of tables.

And by the way, Manila Hotel always serve their guest with bread and butter. About seven years ago or maybe more, I remembered the bread are served early. But this time, they served the bread five minutes before the "real" course came out! The food are served I think about 1:00 pm. When we arrived, butters are already on every table. My question is, where are the bread?
