Christmas Eve, What Happened?
People are on the street singing, dancing and drinking. You can see children are having fun last night. Not so much car on the street, probably on locations somewhere like ours -- Caloocan City.
Last night December 24, it's so quiet. I can only here load music on the street and that's all. I was expecting fireworks. I see and here few. Not like the other years, there are fireworks to celebrate Christmas. And not like those other past years when I was still a child, you'll hear and see fireworks even before December 22.
What happened? The government says our economy has been better now. But why are people here that are Christian, considering that our country is a Christian country, doesn't celebrate much as before. Is it our religion that's fading or is it the economy crisis we are facing. I believe it is the our economy and many believes that too. Only the Philippine government seems to be blinded or tries to blind the people with that "speculation". Dollar is going down and of course, the Philippine peso goes up against the dollar. Actually, it's not the peso that's rising, it's the dollar or let's say the US has a problem on their economy.
Nothing compares to Christmas before. Now, I can't feel it's Christmas! I hope the New Year's Eve won't end up like last night's celebration.
