I gave birth... 2nd time around
I gave birth on October 26, 2012 9:18 am. I was actually admitted on October 25, 2012 in the afternoon. We're looking forward for the set cesarean date and time.
October 26: I'm kind of worried about what's going to happen. Cesarean section... I'm scared of the anesthesia. I mean, what if while on operation, the drug wears off. And I was thinking about my recovery, the pain... After the operation, I think I'm better compare to the first cesarean operation I underwent.
October 27: The dextrose and the urine bag was removed from me early afternoon. My husband and I am expecting me to be discharged the next day because I am able to walk.
October 28: About 2:00 am (I'm guessing the time), I had fever 38.9 degrees celcius. I was chilling and shaking a lot. The nurse comforted me. She wiped my face and arms with faucet water. The yellow bulb light above the bed head was opened to help warm me up. My OB ordered me to take Paracetamol. I wasn't allowed to be discharge that day. I was again in dextrose, and my antibiotic in higher dosage. Flagyl (anti-LBM) was added. I felt better. Since I felt better, that afternoon, I suggested to my husband that I would want to try to breastfeed our baby. I was frustrated when my baby doesn't want to be breastfed. When we learned that we can use the automatic breast pump for 50 php every use, I went back to the breastfeeding station. Guess what... no milk! I went back that night. I got some drops of milk. I felt there's still hope but still frustrated. I was suppose to go back at 10:00 pm but I was tired, really tired. The nurses on the breastfeeding station recommended me to just have a rest for the night and go back the next day.
October 29: I went to the breastfeeding station several times. I tried breastfeeding my baby with no luck. But I got milk using the breast pump. More and more milk as I try. From half ounce (15 ml) to 2 ounces (60 ml) of milk was extracted for every try. I was so happy. I also got fever 37.5 degree celcius early afternoon. I quickly took Paracetamol but can't hide everything from the nurse. They regularly check me temperature. The nurse and OB believed my explanation. Just like some nurses and those on the breastfeeding station said, starting to have breast milk can cause fever.
October 30: Discharge day. I also used the breast pump. My mother and brother helped us prepare and pack up all the things. We're home in the afternoon.
